Hotel photography in Dallas, shot around a working property.

Hotel pool deck photographed at golden hour, The Drey Hotel

The Drey Hotel. Every photograph on this page is our own client work.

Hotel photography is not interiors photography with a nicer bed. The property is open, guests are in the building, housekeeping is on a schedule that does not bend, and the light that makes a pool deck look like the reason someone books is available for about forty minutes a day. Hospitality is the largest body of work we do, so most of this page is about how to plan around those constraints rather than pretend they do not exist.

Guest rooms and suites

The room is the product. It also has the least forgiving geometry in the building: small, mixed light sources, a window that is four stops brighter than the interior, and a bed that reads badly from almost every angle except one.

Proof, not promises

Hospitality is our largest category. In DFW we run the ongoing programme for The Village Dallas, a large amenitised mixed-use community in East Dallas, covering The Drey Hotel, Meridian, Sandy Pickle, the Village Country Club and the Village Beach Club. Outside Texas that work extends to Montage Beverly Hills. Every image on this page came off one of those shoots. See the hospitality portfolio →

Pools, amenities and exteriors

This is the aspirational half of the library, and in Dallas it is almost entirely a scheduling problem. From June to September the midday sun is unusable: harsh shadows, squinting subjects, and water that goes flat and white.

Bars, restaurants and public space

The lobby and the bar carry the personality of the property. They are also the spaces most affected by the hotel's own lighting design, which is usually built for atmosphere rather than for cameras.
