Planning a Las Vegas Wedding Weekend Your Guests Can Follow

A Las Vegas wedding can come together quickly, which is half the appeal. The harder part is usually the weekend around it: guests flying in from different cities, a welcome party, a ceremony, a dinner and a brunch, each at a different address. This guide covers the Clark County marriage license step by step, then shows how to plan a wedding weekend schedule that out of town guests can actually follow.

The Clark County marriage license, step by step

  1. Check eligibility. Both of you must be at least 18 and currently unmarried.
  2. Apply online. Each person completes their own information in the Clark County Clerk's online application. It stays in the system for one year, so you can apply well ahead of the trip. Save the confirmation number.
  3. Go to the Marriage License Bureau together. Bring government issued photo ID with your current likeness, such as a driver's license or passport. Names must match your ID. No appointment is needed, and pickup typically takes less than an hour.
  4. Pay the fee. The license is $102, with a convenience fee if you pay by credit or debit card.
  5. Check the spelling on the license before you leave, since corrections can carry a fee.
  6. Hold the ceremony in Nevada within one year, with a Nevada licensed officiant and at least one witness other than the officiant.

Build the weekend around your guests

The license takes an hour. Your guests' weekend takes three days. Out of town guests are juggling flights, hotels, rideshares and dress codes in a city designed to keep them inside a casino. A clear schedule is the best gift you can give them.

Sample Las Vegas wedding weekend schedule
WhenEventWhat guests need
Friday eveningWelcome drinksVenue name, address, map pin, a photo of the entrance, dress code
Saturday afternoonCeremonyArrival time (not just start time), transportation plan, indoor or outdoor note, what to bring
Saturday eveningReception or dinnerAddress, how to get there from the ceremony, end time and ride options home
Sunday morningFarewell brunchAddress, time, checkout reminder, airport timing

Details out of town guests always ask about

  • Getting from the airport. At Harry Reid International Airport, rideshare pickup is on Level 2 of the parking garage at Terminal 1 and on the Valet Level at Terminal 3. Our Las Vegas group trip planning guide has the full arrival details.
  • Heat. Las Vegas summers are very hot, so outdoor ceremonies are easier in spring and fall or close to sunset. See the monthly normals in the best time to film outdoors in Las Vegas.
  • Resort fees. Many resorts add a nightly resort fee on top of the room rate. Mention it with your hotel block so nobody is surprised.
  • Meeting points. Resorts are huge. A meeting point needs a photo of the exact spot, a time and a map pin, not just the name of a casino.
  • Changes. Ceremonies run late and dinners move. Decide now how guests will hear about a change, and make it one place, not a forty message group chat.

Put the whole weekend in one link with Passage

A wedding website is good for RSVPs. It is less good on the day, when a guest standing in a casino needs to know where to go next. Passage is the custom trip app we build for groups, and a wedding weekend is a group trip with better outfits.
